The Swiss start-up Ostloong Innovations AG, specialized in augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) in various types of eyewear, was founded in Meilen (ZH) in 2022 by Amber Gao. With its cutting-edge OUTDOOR AR™ technology, Ostloong Innovations aims to establish itself as a market leader in the field of Near-Eye AR+AI.

Its first product - SIRIUS - is the only ski goggle capable of providing an outdoor augmented reality experience and displaying high quality images in color. The goggles, patented OUTDOOR AR™ and equipped with a waveguide lens, also features a built-in camera, an SOS button to alert in case of need, and can receive calls and text messages. SIRIUS’ AR and AI technology greatly enhances the skiing experience by providing real-time information about the user’s performance and environment.

Its second product - LYRA - is part of the startup’s ongoing rise. These AR glasses combine augmented reality and artificial intelligence with core features such as translation (text-text, voice-text), GPS and AI assistance, and are designed for office activities, city life and travel. This innovation aims to radically change the way we interact with the world around us. The smart glasses are equipped with cutting-edge technology offering an immersive and intuitive experience to the user.

Ostloong Innovations is a Swiss start-up specialized in the creation of near-eye systems combining augmented reality and artificial intelligence. Founded by Amber Gao in 2022 in Meilen (ZH), Ostloong Innovations has the ambition to revolutionize different activities outdoor and in our daily life.

The name Ostloong Innovations is a combination of different meanings:

  • “Ost” comes from German and means East.
  • “Loong” means dragon in Chinese. This legendary creature represents luck, a favorable environment, power and nobility of soul.
  • The company’s name is “Innovations” for its desire to create innovative products that contribute to human progress and respond to identified needs. Innovation is at the heart of the activities of this company whose name means “dragon of the East”.

  • June 2019: Beginning of the entrepreneurial adventure with the objective of making a ski goggle
  • April 2022: Ski goggles with OUTDOOR AR™ technology

Founder & team

Convinced of the potential and benefits of new technologies, especially artificial intelligence and augmented reality, Amber Gao founded Ostloong Innovations in 2022. It embarked on this adventure with the desire to help certain industries evolve and to respond to a growing need, particularly in the outdoor market (SIRIUS) and the daily assistance market (LYRA).

Amber Gao is of Chinese origin and has been a resident of Switzerland for more than 20 years. She was previously involved in trade between China and Europe, especially in supply chain management. Today, this is one of her strengths, as she knows the best suppliers and distributors in the field. She is assisted by Dimitri Charriere as Chief Operating Officer (COO). He is a former professional freestyle skier of international level with in-depth knowledge and an extensive network in this industry. Together they came up with the idea of an all-in-one ski goggle, before developing smart glasses designed to assist in daily life.

The team is composed of top engineers and experts in AR and AI. The Ostloong Innovations team is proud to be the first company to invent and master this technology that allows every user to live a true augmented reality experience.

Events

2023 Wearable Technologies World cup

We are delighted to share our feedback on our participation in the Wearable Technologies World Cup in Munich, in which we finished as finalists. This competition was a unique opportunity for us to showcase our creativity and our spirit of innovation. We were delighted to find out that our idea had been selected among more than 600 other applications and that we had been selected for the final phase. This step allowed us to present our project to a jury made up of experts in the field, but also to an audience of professionals and investors. Despite strong competition, we managed to stand out and convince the jury of the quality of our project. Although we did not win the competition, we are proud to have reached the final and to have had the opportunity to present our project in front of a select audience. We are convinced that this experience will benefit us in the future, allowing us to perfect our project and explore new avenues of innovation.
